PRODIGAL SONS OF

THE MOST HIGH GOD:

the PRODIGAL SONS MC was officially founded in the year 2000 by Tommy "Soulman" Douthat - "Past National President" of the Sons of God MC. The name came from an idea by another former National President of the SOG MC, Barney McCarthey. In about 1997, After years of division and people leaving and being asked to leave the former club, Barney (retired 1987-1994) told Tommy (a current National Boss) of his idea. Let's open the membership back up to any and all Christian Bikers like it was in the beginning. Anyone who formerly left or had their colors pulled for petty disputable matters could come back in as a full patch holder with no questions asked, and they would wear a "PRODIGAL" patch to designate them as a returned PRODIGAL SON (of God).

Sadly the idea was out voted by the majority party at the time. There were two major schools of thought within the SOG MC - kind of like the two parties (the democrats and the republicans) in the USA. The "Grace party" who believed that it all boils down to the BLOOD OF JESUS, and that the only requirements for membership should be that one is a saved (born again) Christian, and a biker. And the "Legalistic Pharisees party" who believed that their sins were nominal while other peoples were grave, and that anyone who believes differently or is caught "in sin" should be ex-communicated from the group.

Soulman went on to serve as the National Boss for several more years, hoping things would turn around, but they only got worse. Eventually an anti-Tommy faction began gaining momentum and they dug deep and hard to find anything negative about him they could. These bits of information (some true some lies) were passed out to the members (and non members alike) as if they were halloween candy. (gossip and malicious slander)

Finally after winning re-election to the National Presidency with a majority of the votes in early 2000, Soulman handed the presidency over to the other candidate. After thinking about it, he realized that even though he had a majority supporting him the anti-Tommy faction was too strong and would cause too much division over the next four years if he stayed the Boss, so he felt it was better for the club over all if he walked away ......

Sadly the leaders of the anti-Tommy group were not satisfied, and they became like a lynch mob as they had tasted blood, and they did not rest until they had driven him to retire rather than continue to have to fend off their attacks. Seeing this all coming about Soulman copyrighted the name PRODIGAL SONS (of God) MC in the year 2000, and officially retired from the SOG in 2001 to go full time with the PSMC. Each of the first seven chapters formed or forming were started by X-SOG patchholders and officers.

PLEASE NOTE: It is not our goal or desire to say anything negative about the SOG MC, most of us wish we were all still in the same club. It's just that there is no way to adaquately present the history of our club or the reason for its existence without these explainations. We recognize our need for a savior, and are pleased that God celebrates our choice to acknowledge His love for us. We are saddened by the leaders and other members in the SOG MC that seem to more emulate the older brother in the story of the Prodigal Son (see Luke 15:28-30) by refusing to join the celebration with us, and choosing to judge us as if they were without sin....
